The artwork you will see
as you wonder through these rooms
is hand-painted on pure, natural silk.
Artist Maria Rova uses special silk dyes that,
when combined with sheeny white silk,
create a vast range of colours
with an almost irridescent quality.
She works in the age-old "serti" technique,
defining shapes with thin lines
of gold, copper, or silver resist.
When dry, the resist stops the dye
from spreading hap-hazrdly,
thus giving form to the composition.

As Limited Edition Originals,
our silks are painted individually, by hand.
We set edition limits, starting at 50,
and number each painting as we go along.
Once the maximum edition number is reached,
the master drawing from which we start working
is destroyed, and no further editions are made.
In keeping with their hand-painted nature,
each work of art will be slightly different
from the others in its edition,
as small variations in colour
are bound to occur
when the dyes blend into one another.
