During November
2001, I was very involved
in organising "ART 2001"
- a fine art exhibition in Nadi, Fiji,
put together by the Western Arts & Crafts Society
to show-case the work of Fiji's artists.
The Western Arts & Crafts Society is a
Registered Charity founded by artists and craftspeople living
in western Fiji. It acts as
a support group for its members, promoting
the development and recognition of arts and
crafts and helping members to market their work
through quarterly craft fairs and an annual art exhibiton.
"ART 2001" displayed work from over 30 artists, ranging
from the casual beginner
to the full-time professional. Below is a photo of one of the
paintings I entered. This one was sold,
but similar hand-painted Limited Edition Originals
of "Pasifika VII - Kuro ni Viti" can be commissioned.
